Legal Services

Between virtual identity and synthetic identities

A new scenario of the relationship between people and Data.

Digital identity, data protection, Internet of Things, the conflict between humans and artificial intelligence… Personalized and real-time legal services.

  • The pace of technological innovations in the Legaltech field, both nationally and internationally, opens the door to new business possibilities, but also requires a different pace of action and coordination than at present. The practice of law and lawyering are moving towards quick processes with immediate resolutions. “Real-time solutions” that create substantial synergies between the Legaltech and Regtech fields.
  • One of the industry’s main challenges is “digital identity”. The volume of business generated on the Web every second and the immense complexity of quickly and reliably identifying who (entity, person or organization) is behind each operation pushes the sector towards a scenario of necessary and, until recently improbable alliances: military institutions, intelligence services, data scientists or neuroscience researchers are, to name but a few, the new collaborators and partners of traditional professionals and law firms.
  • Blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies and, above all, Smart contracts (Ethereum and others less known) are altering Banking, Insurance, and, of course, the Legal sector since their decentralizing concept points towards a scenario in which many of the conflicts that today are legally settled may be settled through other digital consensus mechanisms.
  • Smart cities, contrary to what it might seem, are the most demanding scenario for the ordinary operations of professional firms because they require a complete approach to the city, its interrelationships, its responsibilities, its obligations and a whole casuistry radically different from the current one.

… and three good questions.

Will AIs negotiate our rights or defend our causes before other AIs representing the opposing part?

Will AI regulations define areas in which its application must be subject to special directives, and who will decide what can be done?

What are the areas of opportunity for new business models emerging in this new paradigm?

Shall we talk?
